Mahr To Feature Automated Measuring Station & OPC UA Interface Standard

Apr 13, 2024

Mahr will be exhibiting at the EMO trade fair in Hanover from September 18 to 23, 2023 and will present new and proven solutions in production metrology and its digital services (Hall 6, Booth A42)

Mahr will be showing the following selected products and services from its extensive portfolio, for use to perform even the most complex of measurements:

MarSurf M 410: presented for the first time at EMO 2023, makes recording and evaluating measurement data easier than ever. The separation of display and drive unit makes it flexible to use and as easy and handy to operate as a smartphone. It has a practical touch display, an integrated PDF memory and transmits data via Bluetooth. Practical accessories such as a mobile Bluetooth printer and a mini-USB interface make work even easier. In addition, customers can use the PC version of the device as a drive unit for surface measurements by combining it with the proven MarWin EasyRoughness software. This extends the scope of use to include a wide range of individualization options for the measurement and evaluation functions.

Mahr Engineered Solutions (MES) has developed a particularly economical solution for automating recurring measurements. A collaborative robot loads measuring stations in the measuring room or near the production line without an operator, which significantly increases the degree of utilization of the measuring station, greatly increasing productivity. At EMO, Mahr will demonstrate a cobot loading on the MarSurf VD 140 B roughness and contour measuring station.

With the ‘myMahr portal’, Mahr presents its new digital service platform: This bundles all interfaces between customers and Mahr in a clear and user-friendly central location. The core of myMahr is the Monitoring & Assets function. It offers the possibility to transfer and evaluate live data from measuring stations. In a clearly structured dashboard, users get an overview of the status and utilization of their measuring machines and thus the most important key figures for Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). In addition, myMahr will offer condition monitoring and predictive maintenance in the future: customers will then automatically receive information about the condition and service status of their measuring machines so that they can contact Mahr Service in good time in advance.

OPC UA Interface Standard

Mahr will demonstrate the OPC UA interface standard on the Mar4D PLQ cylindrical coordinate measuring machine. It enables the exchange of information and control of machines across platforms. This can be done through via an internal company network or the Internet.

Manuel Hüsken, CEO of the Carl-Mahr Group, says: “EMO is an important industry meeting point for our customers. As the world’s leading trade fair for production technology, it advances modernization processes in industrial manufacturing, which also include quality assurance and thus our business field. With our digital services, we are making an innovative and customer-oriented contribution.
